Lee Junghyun, spokesperson for Han Ducksoo's campaign, stated at a briefing on the 3rd, "Immediately after the People Power Party's presidential candidate was confirmed, Han Ducksoo called to congratulate him," adding, "For about 10 minutes, they exchanged congratulatory remarks and responses in a very warm and pleasant atmosphere."
The spokesperson said, "During the call, Han Ducksoo expressed his desire to meet soon, and Kim Moonsoo readily agreed, saying, 'Let's do that.'"
However, they did not discuss specific matters such as the timing of the meeting or the rules and timing for unification. Regarding the possibility of the two candidates meeting later in the day, the spokesperson said, "At this point, all possibilities should be considered open," but added, "In my opinion, it would be physically difficult for them to meet today."
Regarding the timing of unification, the spokesperson said, "If we think about the reason for unification, it would be desirable to achieve it before candidate registration without unnecessary delay," and added, "There is just over a week left, so the fact is, there is not much time remaining." The deadline for registering candidates for the 21st presidential election is the 11th.
