On May 3, the Deokcheon Police Substation under the Busan Bukbu Police Station announced that at around 10:30 a.m. that day, an anonymous donor left a cardboard box at the station. When the police opened the box left by the man, they found one box of ramen, a handwritten letter, thirty-five 1,000-won bills, and one windbreaker jacket for children.
In the handwritten letter, the man introduced himself as "a father of three children," and explained that his eldest child has a level 3 disability and that his family is a recipient of the basic livelihood security program. He wrote, "This is money I worked hard to save by collecting waste paper for a month," and added, "I am truly sorry because, although I struggled to save it, the amount is not large." He also explained, "I wanted to buy snacks with the money from selling waste paper, but it was not enough, so I bought a box of ramen and a windbreaker for a baby. Although the remaining amount is not much, I hope you can at least enjoy some delicious chicken with it."
The man added, "I feel bad that I couldn't buy snacks," but also wrote, "Still, I hope the children can wear the windbreaker, go outside, run around, and laugh." He asked that the donation be delivered to a family with children in difficult circumstances.
When the police checked the substation's CCTV, footage showed a man leaving the box and then hastily leaving the scene.
It is estimated that this man has previously donated in the same manner under the name "father of three children" a total of twelve times, on Children's Day and Christmas each year. Following his request, the police plan to deliver the donated items to the local administrative welfare center so that they can be given to neighbors in need.
