Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following a shooting attack in the disputed Indian-administered Kashmir region, the Pakistani military has conducted a missile launch exercise.
According to foreign media reports on May 3, the Pakistani military announced in a statement that it had "successfully conducted a launch exercise of the Abdali weapon system today," describing it as a "surface-to-surface missile with a range of 450 kilometers." The statement added that "the launch was intended to assess the operational readiness of the troops and to verify key technological elements, including the missile's advanced navigation system and improved maneuverability."
Relations between India and Pakistan have reached a breaking point after a shooting attack targeting tourists and others near Pahalgam, a resort area in Indian-administered Kashmir, on April 22, left 26 people dead and 17 injured.
India has claimed that Pakistan was behind the incident and has begun imposing various sanctions. In response, Pakistan has denied any involvement in the attack and has retaliated by banning Indian aircraft from its airspace, suspending trade, and canceling visas for Indian nationals.
