Major foreign media outlets reported on May 3 (local time) that the Israeli military intercepted a missile launched from Yemen.

As a missile from Yemen entered Israeli airspace that morning, air raid sirens sounded in southern Israel, including Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, and Modi'in.

The Israeli military stated, "The missile was successfully intercepted by the air defense system." The missile is believed to have been launched by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Since the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles and drones toward Israel, claiming solidarity with the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the civil defense authorities in the Gaza Strip, which is governed by the Palestinian militant group Hamas, reported that 11 people, including three infants, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Khan Younis refugee camp overnight.
