Lee Junwoo of People Power Party Holds Briefing on May 3
"'Eulho'-Level Security Provided, Lee Must Attend Trial"
Lee Junwoo, spokesperson for the People Power Party, claimed that Lee Jaemyung, the Democratic Party candidate who received a tip-off about a planned attack, is "deliberately delaying the remand trial as a ploy."
On May 3, spokesperson Lee stated in a commentary, "The candidate's camp announced via social media that 'there have been a series of tip-offs about planned attacks,' and that 'from now on, it will be difficult for the candidate to have direct contact with people.'"
He added, "Candidate Lee, you don't need to worry. The court bailiff will not harm you in any way, so you can meet the bailiff without concern and receive the notice of the remand trial date."
Spokesperson Lee also said, "'People who live diligently without committing crimes have no reason to be anxious.' These are your own words, Candidate Lee. So please do not be anxious and accept the notice of the trial date." He continued, "And on the 15th, attend the trial and continue your election campaign."
He emphasized, "As a major party presidential candidate, you already receive 'Eulho'-level security, which is equivalent to the protection given to the five highest-ranking officials. So please feel assured and attend the trial."
Meanwhile, the first hearing of the remand trial for Candidate Lee's violation of the Public Official Election Act is scheduled for May 15.
