Lee Junseok Criticizes Lee Jaemyung and the Democratic Party on Facebook
"Lee Jaemyung Should Request Constitutional Court's Interpretation of Article 84"
Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, criticized Lee Jaemyung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party itself, stating, "They are making threatening remarks aimed at undermining the judiciary, and are not hesitating to openly deny the principle of separation of powers."
On May 3, Lee Junseok stated in a post on his Facebook page, "Controversy is growing over Article 84 of the Constitution, namely the presidential immunity clause, due to the ongoing case involving Lee Jaemyung's alleged violation of the Public Official Election Act."
Lee Junseok emphasized, "This controversy was by no means artificially created from the outside. It is the result of Lee Jaemyung having faced various trials for years, and in particular, it has been triggered by the recent Supreme Court ruling that found him guilty."
He said, "Given this ruling, the claim that the prosecution's indictment was excessive is no longer convincing. With the highest judicial body in Korea having clearly recognized the dissemination of false information, there is no longer any basis for evading legal responsibility."
He continued, "Even if Lee Jaemyung runs in the presidential election and is elected under these circumstances, there is a risk that his election could be nullified or that he could lose his position immediately. This could result not only in the waste of election expenses amounting to hundreds of billions of won, but also in a governmental vacuum, severe political turmoil, and even social division bordering on a quasi-civil war."
Referring to the impeachment of former president Yoon Sukyeol, Lee Junseok stressed, "We are now seeking to elect a new president to replace him, but choosing a candidate who once again disregards the Constitution and ignores his own legal responsibilities in such an important election would be a grave betrayal of constitutional order and democracy."
He added, "What is even more serious is that Lee Jaemyung and the Democratic Party are not showing any willingness to resolve these legal controversies in a legitimate manner. This reveals a complete lack of intent to uphold the Constitution, which is an extremely dangerous and unconstitutional political act."
He further stated, "If he is a responsible presidential candidate, he should officially request the Supreme Court to expedite the trial and ask the Constitutional Court to clarify the scope and interpretation of Article 84 of the Constitution, thereby making all legal issues transparent before the public."
Lee Junseok asserted, "Nevertheless, if Lee Jaemyung continues to remain silent and evasive, this can only be seen as an irresponsible political act that seeks only power while shirking legal responsibility. Lee Jaemyung must no longer remain silent and must clarify his position at this very moment."
