Jung Chungrae, a member of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, who was named as the Gwangju-Jeonnam Co-Chairman (Neighborhood-by-Neighborhood Election Committee) of the 21st Presidential Election Central Election Committee for the Democratic Party of Korea, has announced a "one-month stay in Honam."

On May 1, Jung posted a message titled "The Reason I Volunteered for Gwangju and Jeonnam" on his YouTube channel's community board, stating, "During the official presidential election campaign period, I plan to set up accommodations in Honam for a month and devote all my energy mainly in Gwangju and Jeonnam, passionately calling for 'President Lee Jaemyung.'"

He shared his thoughts, saying, "I proposed to the party to innovate the existing election committee concept and form a pragmatic, regionally responsible co-chairman system, and I volunteered to take charge of the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions. During the recent Yeonggwang County mayoral by-election, I went to support the campaign more than ten times. I learned a lot while visiting every corner of the neighborhoods."

Jung emphasized, "Thanks to Lee Jaemyung's wholehearted efforts in the Yeonggwang election, the party won the Yeonggwang County mayoral race, and I became an honorary citizen of Yeonggwang. This time, I will follow the same concept."

In fact, during the 10·16 Yeonggwang County mayoral by-election, Jung supported then-candidate Jang Seil (now the Yeonggwang County mayor) in campaign rallies, and was credited with garnering significant support from local voters.

He appealed, "It is true that Gwangju and Jeonnam are regions friendly to the Democratic Party, but I believe these are the places that deserve even more dedication. I will visit every alley, every township, and even the rice paddies and fields in Gwangju and Jeonnam to sincerely explain 'Why Lee Jaemyung should be president.'"

He added, "There are no easy or difficult regions in an election. In places where support is low, we must raise it, and in places where it is already high, we must raise it even higher."

Finally, he stated, "The spirit of the times in Korea today is to end civil strife, achieve a change of government, and establish the fourth democratic administration. June 3 is a historic presidential election to fulfill this mission of our era. I will meet the people of Honam with humility, sincerity, and utmost dedication."
