Gyeongbuk Gumi Office of Education is conducting a training workshop for elementary school swimming practical education teachers for the 2025 academic year.
For this workshop, five swimming specialists were invited as instructors. The training covered not only theoretical education on survival swimming, but also practical sessions on accident prevention methods, the use of various swimming equipment, and techniques for self-rescue and rescuing others.
The workshop focused on developing teachers' abilities to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations. The ultimate goal was to strengthen their professional skills to protect students' lives.
Teachers who participated in the training said that they improved their adaptability to water and learned survival skills for emergency situations, which boosted their confidence in teaching survival swimming.
Nam Seonggwan, head of the Office of Education, stated, "Survival swimming is an essential educational program that enables students to protect themselves from water-related accidents. We will continue to seek ways to further develop safe and effective survival swimming education programs in the future."
The Gumi Office of Education plans to use this workshop as an opportunity to enhance various educational programs so that elementary school students can enjoy water activities safely through comprehensive water safety education.
