Statement: "I Love All My Children"
American actor Robert De Niro (81) has voiced his support for his daughter, Aerin De Niro (29), after she publicly came out as transgender.
According to Yonhap News Agency, which cited U.S. broadcaster CNN and other sources, De Niro released a statement to major media outlets. His remarks came after an interview with Aerin De Niro was published on April 29 by the online LGBTQ+ media outlet Them.

In his statement, De Niro said, "I loved and supported Erin as my son, and now I love and support Aerin as my daughter," adding, "I don't know why this is such a big deal," and reiterating, "I love all my children."
Aerin was born in 1995 to De Niro and actress Toukie Smith. In a recent interview with the LGBTQ+ magazine Them, she revealed for the first time that she had begun her transition to female. At the time, Aerin shared, "I was never Black enough or white enough, never feminine enough or masculine enough. I never felt like 'you are just right as you are.'"
She went on to explain that seeing transgender women being open and honest, especially on social media and finding success, made her realize that it might not be too late for her as well. This, she said, was the reason she began hormone therapy late last year.
She also addressed the label "nepo baby" (a term for children of celebrities), saying, "I never appeared in my father's films as a child, nor did I attend business meetings or premieres. My father also thought it was important for us to find our own paths. I want to succeed on my own merit," adding, "I'm grateful to my parents for helping to keep me out of the spotlight. They wanted us to have as normal a childhood as possible."

After the interview was published, social media was flooded with messages of support for Aerin. Through social media, Aerin expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you to everyone who has supported me," and, "This is the first time I've received this much attention," adding, "I'm grateful to everyone who has shown me such warm support."
