To Be Heard Together at the Central District Court on May 12
Former President Yoon Seokyeol has been additionally indicted on charges of abuse of power, and the court currently handling his insurrection case has decided to merge the two cases for joint proceedings.

The Criminal Division 25 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Ji Guyoun) on May 2 merged the abuse of power case against former President Yoon with the ongoing trial in which he is charged as the leader of an insurrection.
Because the facts of the two cases are identical, the court decided to merge them immediately after the cases were assigned. As a result, the abuse of power case will be heard together with the insurrection case at the hearing scheduled for May 12.
This court division is also handling trials involving martial law-related figures such as former Defense Minister Kim Yonghyun and National Police Agency Commissioner Cho Jiho.
The Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law of the prosecution (headed by Seoul High Prosecutor Park Sehyun) additionally indicted former President Yoon on abuse of power charges on May 1.

This latest indictment was made possible because former President Yoon lost his presidential immunity from prosecution after leaving office.
On December 3 of last year, former President Yoon is accused of conspiring with former Minister Kim and others to declare emergency martial law, abusing his authority by ordering soldiers and police officers to mobilize armed to the National Assembly and the National Election Commission, to blockade or occupy facilities, or to control access?compelling them to perform duties for which they had no legal obligation. Earlier this year in January, the prosecution indicted former President Yoon on charges of leading an insurrection and placed him under arrest.
