Dongdaemun District Creates 'Imun Flower Hill Trail'... Garden-Style Walking Path Established

On May 2, the Dongdaemun District Office in Seoul (headed by District Mayor Lee Pilhyung) announced that it has created the 'Imun Flower Hill Trail' by utilizing the green space around the Imun-dong rainwater pumping station.

Through this project, a total of 6,440 azalea shrubs were planted, along with 2,425 shrubs of 10 different species including snow willow and hydrangea, and 4,280 herbaceous plants of 15 different species such as Jangdoenggolpul and Heuchera.

In addition, ground cover plants, including mats of evergreen spindle, were planted over an area of approximately 1,029 square meters, further enhancing the completeness of the green space.

This project transformed the existing sloped green area into a garden-style walking trail, providing local residents with a healing space to enjoy nature nearby. It is also expected to help address complaints about the lack of green spaces in the area.

Lee Pilhyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun District, stated, "The Imun Flower Hill Trail is a garden-style walking path that harmonizes with the Jungnangcheon Stream, providing residents with a space to enjoy the beauty of the seasons in their daily lives." He added, "We will continue to steadily expand nature-friendly gardens around residential areas in the future."
