KG Mobilians is showing strong performance. This is believed to be influenced by news that the government has strongly recommended SK Telecom not to accept new subscriptions or number porting until the shortage of USIM cards is resolved.
As of 10:05 a.m. on May 2, 2025, KG Mobilians was trading at 4,490 won, up 6.27% from the previous day.
According to the industry, the Ministry of Science and ICT announced the previous day that it had issued administrative guidance to SK Telecom to completely suspend the recruitment of new mobile subscribers and number porting from other carriers until the USIM shortage issue is resolved.
The Ministry of Science and ICT stated that it urges SK Telecom to implement stronger solutions to prevent further harm to subscribers.
The authorities noted that recently, frequent system failures have occurred during number porting from SK Telecom to other carriers. They instructed SK Telecom to immediately share information about such failures and to promptly restore services, so that number porting processes are not delayed.
Meanwhile, KG Mobilians is a company specializing in electronic payment gateway services, connecting credit card companies and telecom operators with approximately 27,500 affiliated merchants. The company also operates the prepaid Mobilians Card service and an MVNO budget phone business. According to KG Mobile, there has recently been a surge in number porting at a particular telecom operator.
