Giant Art Balloon at Seokchon Lake Draws 1.2 Million Visitors in 5 Days

Songpa District (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) has reported significant results in boosting local consumption through a prize event held in conjunction with Lotte Group's 'Pokemon Town 2025 with Lotte' project.

As part of the project, the district is hosting the 'Transformation! Metamon: Lapras & Pikachu' exhibition, featuring a 16-meter-tall giant Pokemon art balloon floating above Seokchon Lake. According to Lotte, more than 1.2 million people visited the exhibition in just five days since it opened last Friday, an increase of 70,000 compared to the same period last year.

Particularly, the 'Seokchon Lake Gourmet Pokemon Prize Event,' held alongside the exhibition, attracted about 1,000 participants over the weekend, drawing significant attention. The event was organized to stimulate spending in nearby commercial areas such as Bangimatgol, Songridan-gil, and Hosudangil.

A district official stated, "During the five-day Lake Cherry Blossom Festival held in April, card sales in commercial areas adjacent to Seokchon Lake reached a total of 28.6 billion KRW. Considering that the current exhibition will run for 24 days, its economic impact on the local community is expected to be even greater. Since the odds of winning in this prize event are much higher than losing, we hope many visitors will participate."

The prize event is conducted through an on-site roulette game. Anyone can participate by presenting a physical receipt showing a same-day purchase of at least 20,000 KRW at restaurants located in Bangidong Meokjagolmok, Songridan-gil, or Hosudangil around Seokchon Lake. The event will be held in front of the Songpa Tourist Information Center every Saturday and Sunday for four weeks until May 18, including Children's Day (May 5) and the substitute holiday (May 6).

Prizes include Lotte World admission tickets, movie tickets, hamburger and coffee vouchers, and Pokemon merchandise, with a total value of 30 million KRW. For more information on how to participate, please refer to the district's website.
