"Blossoming Filial Love"... Mapo-gu to Hold Carnation Festival

Mapo-gu (District Mayor Park Kangsu) will host the 'Mapo Carnation Festival' on May 8 at the Mapo Senior Welfare Center (68 Seogang-ro) in celebration of Parents' Day.

This festival has been organized to express love and respect for local seniors and to encourage residents who practice the true meaning of filial piety.

During the festival, carnations will be personally pinned on attending seniors as a gesture of gratitude.

The commemorative ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Open Yard on the third floor of the welfare center, starting with an opening declaration, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing exemplary filial conduct, congratulatory speeches from guests, and celebratory performances.

The celebratory performances will include a variety of stages such as traditional Korean music performances dedicated to filial piety, vocal performances, and a classical music concert, aiming to bring joy and happiness to the seniors.

Additionally, in the front yard on the first floor of the welfare center, experience booths will be set up for all local residents to participate in, including activities such as making thank-you cards, traditional memory games, and health information sessions, to promote intergenerational communication.

A photo zone commemorating Parents' Day will also be installed, allowing seniors and their families to create cherished memories together.

Mapo-gu expects that this festival will make a significant contribution to fostering harmony and a culture of respect between generations.

Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo-gu, stated, "In celebration of Parents' Day, we have prepared this festival with the hope that our seniors will always enjoy good health and happiness," and added, "Mapo-gu will continue to do its utmost to ensure that seniors are respected and can enjoy a happy later life."
