The first official endorsement for Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate in the 21st presidential election, has begun.
According to the Democratic Party of Korea Gwangju City Party on May 1, the "Gwangju Jump Rope Association Delegation of 977 Members" officially declared their support for candidate Lee Jae Myung at the association office on this day.
During the declaration, the delegation pledged, "Just as we lightly jump over the rope with both feet, we will move beyond rebellion toward a new democratic republic and a true Republic of Korea," adding, "We are determined to build a country where the people are the true owners, together with candidate Lee Jae Myung."
Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Min Hyungbae (Gwangsan-eul, Gwangju) attended the event and led the declaration. Min emphasized, "The power to restore the broken constitutional order lies in the hands of the citizens," and added, "This declaration is both a promise and a practice of Gwangju once again taking its place as the heart of democracy."
This event is highly symbolic, as it goes beyond a simple endorsement from a sports organization and marks the beginning of citizens raising their voices for the restoration of democracy in everyday life. The sight of jump rope instructors, athletes, youth, and women all calling for a 'true Republic of Korea' together suggests the possibility of the spread of citizen-centered endorsements.
Meanwhile, starting with this declaration, the "True Republic of Korea Gwangju Election Countermeasures Committee" plans to actively promote endorsements from various sectors and policy discussions, aiming to foster national unity for victory in the 21st presidential election.
