Gwangju City held the commissioning ceremony for the 12th term Clean Citizen Auditors on May 1 at Mudeung Hall in City Hall.

The ceremony was attended by Mayor Kang Gijung and 50 members of the 12th term Clean Citizen Auditors. The event proceeded in the order of presenting appointment certificates, explaining the operational plan for the Clean Citizen Auditors, and outlining activity standards.

Prior to this, the city selected 50 members for the 12th term Clean Citizen Auditors through an open recruitment process. The auditors are composed of experts in five fields: transportation, culture, environment, roads and construction, and health and welfare. Their term of office runs for two years, from May 1, 2025, to April 30, 2027.

The Clean Citizen Auditors will engage in a variety of activities, including monitoring illegal or unjust administrative matters, reporting or suggesting measures regarding corruption and irregularities, observing comprehensive and specific audits, and participating in meetings and workshops for exchanges and capacity building with central and other local governments.

In particular, starting with the 12th term, five auditors have been selected for each field to form the "Clean Secret Inspector Team." Alongside the Clean Mobile Team, they will be actively deployed on-site to identify and address issues arising in public projects.

Mayor Kang Gijung stated, "Clean Citizen Auditors play an important role in monitoring city administration from the citizens' perspective and providing valuable suggestions for the development of city governance," adding, "I look forward to your active participation in realizing a 'Clean Gwangju.'"
