Naju City in South Jeolla Province has completely revamped the operational system of its CCTV Integrated Control Center to better safeguard the daily safety of its citizens.

Naju City has newly hired all 28 control personnel at the Integrated Control Center as part-time fixed-term public officials, and they began their duties on May 1.

This transition to fixed-term public officials was implemented to address the employment instability and limitations in public interest associated with outsourcing to private companies, as well as to ensure continuity in the work of control personnel and strengthen administrative accountability.

The control personnel serve as guardians of citizens’ lives and property by providing year-round, real-time monitoring of approximately 2,200 CCTV cameras, detecting various crimes and disasters, and responding to incidents by notifying the police and fire authorities.

In particular, they are expected to play a central role in accident prevention and initial response through efficient surveillance of CCTV cameras installed in child and youth protection zones and crime-prone areas.

Yoon Byungtae, Mayor of Naju, emphasized, “Control personnel are not simply monitoring staff, but responsible public officials who protect the safety of citizens in real time. I urge you to carry out your duties with a sense of mission, responsibility, and obligation to safeguard our citizens.”

He also stated, “This transition of center personnel to fixed-term public officials is not merely a change in employment type, but a structural transformation that enhances the public nature and stability of control operations.”
