Sentenced to 10 Months in Prison, 2 Years of Probation
Rapper Sik-K (real name Kwon Min-sik, 31), who turned himself in to the police for drug use, has been sentenced to a suspended prison term.
On May 1, Presiding Judge Ma Sungyoung of the Seoul Western District Court's Criminal Division 7 sentenced Kwon to 10 months in prison, suspended for two years, on charges including violation of the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana). The court also ordered probation and 40 hours of drug treatment lectures.
The court explained the sentencing by stating, "The number of offenses is high, and as a well-known singer, the defendant has significant social influence. However, he has shown deep remorse for his actions, and the fact that he voluntarily confessed to marijuana possession was taken into consideration."
Kwon was brought to trial on charges of using ketamine and ecstasy between October 1 and 9, 2023. He was also charged with smoking marijuana on January 11 last year and possessing marijuana on January 13 of the same year.
On January 19 last year, he told a police officer on duty near the Seoul Regional Veterans Affairs Office in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, that he wanted to turn himself in for drug use, which led to a police investigation. Prosecutors indicted Kwon without detention in June last year.
