Year-Round Recruitment of New Spaces... Administrative Support Including Instructor Fees
Gwangju Bukgu District will officially launch its "Neighborhood Classroom" initiative, allowing anyone to continue learning close to home.
On May 1, Bukgu District announced that starting in May, weekday evening and weekend programs will be offered at 36 Neighborhood Classroom locations throughout the district. The "Neighborhood Classroom" project transforms local idle spaces, such as cafes and workshops, into learning spaces for residents as part of a lifelong learning initiative.
The district has specifically designed courses for weekday evenings (after 6 p.m.) and weekends to encourage participation from office workers and young adults, who have previously been underserved by existing lifelong learning programs. All programs are free of charge for Bukgu residents, with participants only responsible for material costs.
Designated Neighborhood Classroom spaces receive administrative support, including instructor fees and promotional assistance. Bukgu District is also accepting applications for new Neighborhood Classroom spaces throughout the year to secure more educational venues and revitalize local communities. These spaces must be available for free use by residents for a certain period and be suitable for learning activities.
Program participation and space registration can be completed through the Bukgu Lifelong Learning Center website. For further inquiries, residents are encouraged to contact the Lifelong Learning Center directly.
