The Busan Regional Employment and Labor Office, Busan East Branch, Busan North Branch, and the Busan Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency conducted a campaign on April 30 to commemorate Industrial Accident Workers' Day, honoring workers affected by industrial accidents and raising awareness of the importance of accident prevention in the local community.
Industrial Accident Workers' Day was designated as April 28 each year, starting this year, in accordance with the amendment to the Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance Act (enacted on October 22, 2024). The week is also observed as a memorial week for workers affected by industrial accidents.
About 55 participants, including officials from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Busan Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and the Construction Safety Managers Association, took part in the campaign. They distributed promotional materials featuring the representative safety messages for 2025 and seasonal safety guidelines (fine dust prevention) OPS to citizens.
The safety messages (slogan type) include "Safe Workplace" and "Happiness for All," as well as the sentence-type message, "Nothing is more precious than your safety."
The three key safety rules for fine dust prevention are "wearing a mask, washing hands, and drinking water."
With Industrial Accident Workers' Day now designated as a statutory memorial day, the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency are actively pursuing a variety of initiatives to promote a culture of safety in all workplaces and to emphasize the importance of accident prevention.
