Attendance at the Opening Ceremony of the Jeollanam-do Sports Festival for the Disabled in Jangseong on the 30th
"Doing Our Best to Expand Sports Infrastructure and Establish Support Policies for People with Disabilities"
Kim Taekyun, Chairperson of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, attended the opening ceremony of the 33rd Jeollanam-do Sports Festival for the Disabled held in Jangseong-gun on April 30, where he encouraged the athletes and officials.
The opening ceremony was attended by Governor Kim Youngrok, members of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, athletes and officials, and approximately 15,000 spectators. The event proceeded in the following order: local cultural performances, entrance of the athletes, athletes' representative oath, and lighting of the torch.
In his congratulatory remarks, Chairperson Kim Taekyun stated, "All of you who have demonstrated new hope and possibilities beyond disability are already victors of a great challenge." He emphasized, "This competition, in which Jeonnam's top athletes with disabilities will compete across a total of 21 events, is expected to be the best in terms of scale, event management, and records."
He continued, "I hope that all athletes will stay safe and fully demonstrate the skills you have honed." He added, "The Jeonnam Provincial Council will do its utmost to expand sports infrastructure for people with disabilities and to establish support policies, so that every athlete in Jeonnam can perform to the best of their abilities in a fair environment."
