Unrelated to Customer Information and New Vehicle Development Data
A security incident has occurred at Hyundai Motor Group, resulting in the leakage of some personal information of employees.
On April 30, Hyundai Motor Group notified its employees via text message and email that "in early March of this year, a security incident at an overseas subsidiary was reported to the relevant authorities, and an investigation into the cause has been underway." The company added, "We recently received the results of the investigation from the authorities, who recommended that we report the personal information breach."
It has been reported that, as a result of this incident, information such as company names, employee names, account information for internal business systems, email addresses, department names, and job titles of some group employees was leaked. It was confirmed that customer information, technology, and new vehicle development data were not affected.
Hyundai Motor Group has blocked the IP addresses used in the breach and changed the passwords of accounts that may have been compromised. The company also recommended that employees change the passwords of personal accounts that use the same password as internal business systems to prevent secondary damage.
Hyundai Motor Group stated, "We will comply with the recommendations of the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) and thoroughly review our IT security architecture to prevent any recurrence of cyber incidents."
