Park Chan Dae, standing election committee chairperson, stated, "June 3 will be the day when the Republic of Korea is reborn," and pledged, "We will surely create a world together with the people." Though my strength is small, I will work hard together with everyone." Kim Boo Kyum, another election committee chairperson, also said, "National unity and economic recovery are urgent tasks," and called on everyone to "join forces and achieve victory."
Kim Dong Myung, president of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions and now general election committee chairperson, pledged, "I will create a country where workers and the people win together." The joint election committee chairpersons also emphasized communication and unity with the people. Lee Seok Yeon stated, "Our society is now experiencing a rapid collapse of communal solidarity. Both the bonds of solidarity and the ties of fellowship are breaking down," and asserted, "I believe it is time to urgently restore a spirit of community, based on tolerance and truth, as a constitutional value. I am confident that candidate Lee has the capacity to accomplish this."
At the launch ceremony, 'listening' was highlighted as the core concept of the presidential campaign. The committee reaffirmed its commitment to focus the campaign on listening to the diverse voices of the people, with an emphasis on livelihood and on-the-ground engagement.
