On April 30, Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced that it had conducted inspections of emergency bells and other facilities in public restrooms.

This inspection was carried out in anticipation of increased outdoor activities during the spring season, which led to the determination that a proactive inspection of public restrooms in parks and walking trails frequently used by many people was necessary. The police, in cooperation with local government agencies, conducted a comprehensive safety diagnosis, including inspections of crime prevention facilities and checks for illegal filming devices.

The police station's Crime Prevention Officer (CPO) team, officers in charge of sexual violence, and the district office's environmental management department plan to jointly inspect all 30 public restrooms within Nam-gu. The inspection covers several areas: the operational status of emergency bells, the development of improvement measures for locations with frequent malfunctions, checks for missing points of interest (POI) in the 112 emergency reporting system, the presence of illegal cameras, and other potential risk factors.

Kim Jongdeuk, Chief of Gwangju Nambu Police Station, stated, "We will make proactive efforts to regularly inspect for illegal cameras and emergency bells so that all residents can use these facilities with peace of mind."
