'Practice-Oriented Education Success'... Honam University Electrical Engineering Graduates Accepted by Major Companies Honam University Department of Electrical Engineering, Capstone Design Project Midterm Presentation Evaluation Meeting. Provided by Honam University

This year’s graduates from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Honam University have been accepted by some of the nation’s leading companies, demonstrating the effectiveness of the department’s practice-oriented education.

According to Honam University on April 30, the graduates who secured positions include Lee Sangseung (Korea Railroad Corporation), Park Kyungbin (Hyundai Heavy Industries Turbo Machinery), Nam Sanghyun (Korea Photonics Technology Institute), Park Jaemin, Oh Hyunmin, and Lim Suin (Coupang), and Lee Seonjae (Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch, Myeongdong Station).

Lee Sangseung joined the Korea Railroad Corporation, a key player in the nation’s core industries, as an electrical equipment specialist. He is now responsible for managing electrical facilities within railway stations and overseeing the safety of power supply, playing a key role in operating essential infrastructure.

Park Kyungbin was hired by Hyundai Heavy Industries Turbo Machinery Co., Ltd., where he is engaged in the design, testing, and quality management of large turbo compressors and power generation motors, actively contributing to the field of electrical control in heavy industry.

Nam Sanghyun joined the Korea Photonics Technology Institute, a government-funded research institute, where he supports power and control infrastructure for advanced photonics convergence technology development and manages research equipment.

Park Jaemin, Oh Hyunmin, and Lim Suin were hired as full-time employees on the technical support team at Coupang’s logistics center, a leading company in smart logistics infrastructure. They are responsible for managing automation equipment, inspecting power distribution panels, and improving energy efficiency. Notably, Park Jaemin, who joined earlier, became a positive model for subsequent hiring of graduates due to his responsible and diligent work ethic, which was highly regarded.

Lee Seonjae was hired as a full-time member of the facility management team at Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch (Myeongdong Station), where he is in charge of inspecting electrical equipment and managing electrical infrastructure to ensure customer safety, handling on-site operations.

Lee Sangseung, Park Kyungbin, and Lee Seonjae have obtained at least two national technical certifications, including Electrical Engineer and Electrical Construction Engineer, demonstrating their expertise. Park Jaemin, Oh Hyunmin, and Lim Suin have strengthened their technical competencies through practice-oriented experiences such as serving on the student council of the Department of Electrical Engineering, participating in the Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers competition, internships and field training, and volunteering with technical support teams.

Professor Uh Iksoo, head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, stated, “The fact that our graduates have advanced not only to national and industrial backbone companies such as Korea Railroad Corporation and Hyundai Heavy Industries, but also to Coupang, which applies cutting-edge smart factory technology, is an important example proving the effectiveness of our practice-oriented education. We will continue to strengthen hands-on education and industry collaboration to foster electrical engineering talent with strong field capabilities.”
