Han Deoksoo, Acting President and Prime Minister, sent a congratulatory message to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on the 29th, congratulating him on the Liberal Party's victory in the general election. The Prime Minister's Office announced this on the 30th, stating that Han expressed his sincere congratulations on the good results achieved.
In the message, Han stated, "Korea and Canada have developed a close partnership based on shared values over the past 60 years." He continued, "This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Korea-Canada Free Trade Agreement (FTA), a symbol of our two countries' shared prosperity. It is also a special year in which both countries, as chairs of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and the Group of Seven (G7), will closely cooperate in the international community." He added, "I look forward to our two countries continuing to cooperate closely as comprehensive strategic partners."
