This event, hosted by the Yangju branch of the Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations of Korea (hereafter Yangju Yesang), is designed to honor and carry on the satirical spirit and literary legacy of Nango Kim Byeongyeon (pen name: Kim Satgat, 1807-1863), a renowned satirical and wandering poet of the Joseon Dynasty, as well as to discover and nurture new literary talents.

The contest categories are poetry (including sijo) and prose (including essays and life writing). Participation is open to all elementary, middle, high school students, university students, and the general public nationwide, except for those who have already debuted as writers.

The grand prize winner will receive an award from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism along with prize money of 3 million won. In total, prizes and certificates worth 6.88 million won will be awarded, including the grand prize.

Applications can be submitted online via the Yangju Yesang website until May 22. For group participation, applicants can download the group application form from the website's resources section and submit it via email.

Additionally, on-site registration will be available on the day of the contest from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The winners will be announced on June 13 through the Yangju Yesang website.

A Yangju City official stated, "We hope that this 17th literature contest will serve as a creative space that brings out the literary characteristics of poet Kim Satgat."
