Survey of 7,500 Students in Elementary, Middle, and High Schools
Verbal Abuse and Physical Violence Most Common
The Daegu Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eunhee) announced that the victim response rate in the 2024 second school violence survey, conducted by the Ministry of Education from September 23 to October 22, 2024, was 1.2%, which is lower than the national average of 2.1% for the second school violence survey.
In this survey, 7,506 out of 8,186 students from 42 schools in Daegu?comprising 16 elementary schools, 13 middle schools, and 13 high schools, from fourth grade in elementary school to second grade in high school?participated in the second survey, representing a participation rate of 91.7%. The victim response rate was 1.2%, which is 0.9 percentage points lower than the national average of 2.1%.
The types of victimization reported were as follows: verbal abuse 49.3%, physical violence 14.3%, group bullying 9.3%, sexual violence 9.3%, cyberbullying 5.0%, extortion 5.0%, coercion 5.0%, and stalking 2.9%.
