Honored with the Grand Prize in the Regional Premium Brand Category
The Joseon White Porcelain Kiln Site in Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province, has been honored with the Grand Prize in the Regional Premium Brand category at the '2025 Korea Prestige Brand Awards' ceremony.

According to Gwangju City on April 30, the '2025 Korea Prestige Brand Awards' ceremony was held on April 29 at the Korea Press Center in Taepyeong-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul. Organized by the Korea Consumer Association, this award is given to products, companies, and regional brands that provide high value and satisfaction to consumers, based on consumer awareness surveys and other evaluations.
Gwangju City is known as a center of Joseon-era ceramic culture, particularly for its white porcelain. In the early Joseon period, the production and supply of porcelain ware used by the royal court were concentrated in the Gwangju area. This is rooted in the historical fact that the Saongwon, the royal kitchen responsible for court cuisine, established a branch in Gwangju.
To date, more than 330 kiln sites from the Joseon Dynasty have been identified in the Gwangju area. Among these, 68 sites have been designated as national historic sites, with their historical value recognized and systematically managed.
Mayor SaeHwan Bang stated, "I am very pleased that the Gwangju Joseon White Porcelain Kiln Site, one of Gwangju's representative cultural heritages, has received the Grand Prize at the Korea Prestige Brand Awards. Moving forward, we will actively promote the Royal Ceramics Conference and do our utmost to preserve, restore, and utilize the Gwangju Joseon White Porcelain Kiln Site, making Gwangju City an attractive city where history, culture, and tourism come together."
