Targeting 60 Safety-Vulnerable Facilities
Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyun) announced on April 30 that it will conduct the "2025 Intensive Safety Inspection" targeting safety-vulnerable facilities within its jurisdiction, such as traditional markets and large stores, where disasters or accidents are likely to occur, until June 13.

The annual intensive safety inspection is conducted to proactively inspect facilities vulnerable to safety risks and eliminate potential hazards in advance, as disaster and accident risks are increasing due to factors such as climate change and the aging of urban infrastructure.
This year, the city will inspect 60 safety-vulnerable facilities within its jurisdiction, including traditional markets, large stores, lodging facilities, care facilities, multi-use businesses, apartment complexes, bridges, and construction sites.
To enhance the professionalism and transparency of the inspections, private experts in facility management, civil engineering, fire safety, electricity, and gas, together with public officials, will conduct the inspections. The city plans to immediately correct minor issues on-site and promptly repair or reinforce any major issues identified during the inspections.
In addition, to encourage voluntary participation in safety inspections by citizens, the city will distribute a "Household Voluntary Safety Checklist" and do its utmost to prevent safety accidents.
Mayor Baek Kyunghyun stated, "Through this inspection, we will systematically inspect and manage facilities closely related to citizens' daily lives," adding, "We will proactively eliminate risk factors in safety blind spots to actively promote the safety of our citizens."
Meanwhile, last year the city conducted joint inspections with both the public and private sectors, with a total of 113 participants inspecting 64 facilities. As a result, 10 on-site corrections and 3 repairs or reinforcements were carried out.
