One-Stop Tax Filing System Operated for Taxpayer Convenience
Gangseo Tax Office Staff to Provide On-Site Support Until June 2
Seoul's Gangseo District (District Mayor Jin Kyohun) will operate an integrated civil service center in cooperation with the Gangseo Tax Office to enhance residents' convenience in tax filing.
Taxpayers with comprehensive income for the 2024 tax year must file and pay both local individual income tax and comprehensive income tax by June 2. Previously, taxpayers had to file local individual income tax at the district office and comprehensive income tax at the tax office separately, which caused inconvenience.
Accordingly, from May 1 to June 2, the district has set up an integrated civil service center on the second basement floor of the main building of Gangseo District Office, allowing taxpayers to file both local individual income tax and comprehensive income tax at once. Staff from both the district office and the Gangseo Tax Office will be stationed at the center to assist taxpayers with their filings.
Taxpayers who have received a pre-filled notice with major filing items, known as 'Moduchaeeum' recipients, can receive counseling and filing support at the integrated center. Moduchaeeum recipients are mostly small business owners and freelancers, typically low-income taxpayers for whom the National Tax Service can pre-obtain income and expense data.
For in-person filers, the district will operate three types of service counters: an assistance counter, a self-filing counter, and an ARS (automated response system) counter. The assistance counter will support electronic filing for those unfamiliar with the process, such as seniors and people with disabilities. At the self-filing and ARS counters, taxpayers can file their taxes directly using computer equipment and ARS phones, and can receive assistance from staff if they encounter any difficulties during the process.
The district expects that operating the integrated civil service center will make tax filing easier and more convenient for residents. Meanwhile, taxpayers who have received a notice from the National Tax Service will be considered to have completed their filing simply by paying their taxes to the virtual account specified in the notice, provided there are no corrections to be made.
District Mayor Jin Kyohun stated, "We are operating the integrated civil service center to enable one-stop processing of comprehensive income tax and local individual income tax," adding, "We will do our utmost to implement taxpayer-centered tax administration."
