Theme: "Looking for Records of Sports Events from the Past"
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will hold the 5th Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Records Collection Contest from May 1 to July 4.
According to the province on April 30, this contest has been organized to discover privately held records of high preservation value and to spread continued interest and enthusiasm among residents for the bid to host the Jeonju Olympics.
With the theme "Looking for Records of Sports Events from the Past," the contest aims to collect records related to large-scale sports competitions, sports events, and school sports days that have taken place in the Jeonbuk region.
Anyone in the country is eligible to participate. The collection targets records created before 2000, including event booklets, commemorative plaques, certificates, trophies, medals, badges, souvenirs, photographs, videos, sports equipment, pamphlets, and leaflets.
In addition to the main theme, general records related to Jeonbuk Province are also being collected. This includes records of provincial and city or county events, past village scenes, improvements to village facilities, activities of village organizations, village festivals, and various other community records from daily life.
The submission period runs from May 1 to July 4. Those wishing to participate can download the application form from the Jeonbuk Province website and submit it in person to the General Affairs Division at the provincial office, or by mail or email.
All submitted records will be reviewed by the Private Records Collection Advisory Committee, which will select a total of 18 winners. Winners will receive a certificate from the governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and Onnuri gift certificates worth a total of 3.8 million won. The collected records will be shared with residents through an exhibition and, after being digitized, will be made available on the provincial records center website.
Kim Jongpil, Director of the Provincial Autonomy and Administration Bureau, stated, "We hold the records collection contest every year to discover and utilize valuable records that are dormant in the private sector," adding, "This year, in particular, we have chosen sports events as the theme to boost the bid for the Jeonju Olympics, and we look forward to active interest and participation from many people."
