Daejeon Tourism Organization Relocates Headquarters to Original Downtown, Operations Begin on the 2nd of Next Month Wondong New Headquarters / Daejeon Tourism Organization

The Daejeon Tourism Organization announced that it will relocate its headquarters to Wondong, Dong-gu, and begin operations there starting from the 2nd.

This relocation follows a business agreement signed in December 2023 between the Daejeon Metropolitan City, Dong-gu District, and the Daejeon Tourism Organization. The move is expected to revitalize tourism throughout Daejeon by connecting the original downtown areas and to invigorate the local economy of the old city center.

Approximately 90 employees across 9 teams, excluding some teams under the MICE Business Division and Tourism Development Division responsible for operating the Daejeon Convention Center and Science Park, will work at the Wondong New Headquarters.

With this relocation, the organization plans to expand its focus from event-centered projects such as the Expo Re-creation Project and the operation of the Daejeon Convention Center to broader tourism and marketing initiatives across Daejeon. The organization also aims to strengthen its role as the practical control tower of the regional tourism organization (RTO).

Additionally, the organization will accelerate efforts to enhance city marketing as a gateway city toward "Fun City, Daejeon" by strengthening the content of the "Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival" held in August and by revitalizing the Kkumssi Family universe centered on Kkumdori House near Daejeon Station, which it operates.

Yoon Sunguk, President of the Daejeon Tourism Organization, stated, "With the opening of the original downtown era, we will strive to attract more inbound visitors through strengthened gateway city promotion leveraging nationwide transportation networks, revitalize local commercial districts such as Jungang Market and Yeokjeon Market, and discover tourism products specialized for the region."
