Daejeon City to Acquire 150 Rental Homes for Young People and Newlyweds to Support Housing Stability

Daejeon City announced that it will purchase 150 existing homes this year to support housing stability for young people and newlywed couples.

Since 2023, the city has planned to supply a total of 1,400 public rental homes by 2030, acquiring 150 units each year, to provide stable public rental housing for young people and newlywed couples, who are considered vulnerable housing groups.

This year’s acquisition includes 135 units for young people and 15 units for newlywed couples. Applications will be accepted through Daejeon Urban Corporation starting April 30.

The homes to be acquired fall into two categories: “Youth Purchased Rental Housing,” which is offered at 40-50% below market rent, and “Newlywed and Newborn II Purchased Rental Housing,” which is supplied at approximately 80% of market rent.

Eligible properties include apartments, mixed-use apartment complexes, and officetels with an exclusive area of 80 square meters or less, with a focus on locations with good access to public transportation and high living convenience.

The city will comprehensively review factors such as location and housing quality, present purchase conditions based on an appraisal, and sign contracts through negotiations with sellers.

Those wishing to sell their property should check the announcement on the Daejeon Urban Corporation website. Applications must be submitted by email by May 30, and related documents such as the building register must be sent by registered mail.

An official from Daejeon City stated, “Solving housing issues for young people and newlywed couples is a core task directly linked to Daejeon’s competitiveness,” and added, “We will do our best to create a stable and sustainable housing environment.”

Meanwhile, the “Nangwol Dagaon Youth Housing” project, currently under construction in Nangwol-dong, Dong-gu, has reached an 81% completion rate. With a total of 162 units, the occupancy announcement was completed on February 19, and move-in is scheduled for June. Completion is expected by the end of May.
