Selected as Ganjeolgott Baekkot Maeul Co., Ltd. This Year
Uljugun in Ulsan announced on April 30 that it has been selected as an "Outstanding Village Enterprise" designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for the second consecutive year.
This year, Ganjeolgott Baekkot Maeul Co., Ltd. was selected as the outstanding village enterprise. Last year, Uljugun produced Green Narae Co., Ltd. as an outstanding village enterprise, and by achieving this recognition for two consecutive years, it has once again demonstrated a sustainable growth model based on the local community.
Ganjeolgott Baekkot Maeul utilizes Seosaeng pear, a specialty product of Ganjeolgott in Seosaeng-myeon, to produce healthy and high-quality foods such as "Ganjeol Baetteok," a rice cake containing pear juice; "Haetteok," made with sea breeze; Injeolmi and traditional rice cakes made with domestic ingredients; Sikhye; and pear jam. The company has grown into a village enterprise that reflects the unique characteristics of the region and continues to be loved by visitors and customers at Ganjeolgott, a representative local tourist destination.
Following the selection as an outstanding village enterprise, Uljugun and Ganjeolgott Baekkot Maeul Co., Ltd. signed an agreement on April 29 and plan to accelerate efforts to diversify their products and enhance brand competitiveness. With 70 million won in business support funds, they will strengthen their business foundation through new product development via menu consulting and improvements to the rice cake cafe interior.
An official from Uljugun stated, "The production of various foods using the highly flavorful and aromatic pears from Ganjeolgott in Seosaeng-myeon, as well as the creative village enterprise model, will invigorate the local community," adding, "We will actively promote resident-led local economic revitalization through the cultivation and support of outstanding village enterprises."
