Mayor Oh Unseok's Leadership Shines as Dobong District Ranks First in 14 Categories of Community Survey

Dobong District in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Unseok) ranked first among the 25 autonomous districts of Seoul in 14 categories, including "trust in basic local governments," in the "2024 Community Survey" conducted by Statistics Korea.

In addition to the categories where it ranked first, the district also placed at the top in the remaining 16 major categories, such as community spirit, welfare, and safety environment.

The "2024 Community Survey" is conducted to promote balanced regional development and to measure the quality of life of citizens.

This survey targeted 20,000 sample households and household members aged 15 or older residing in Seoul. In the case of Dobong District, 720 households and 1,246 household members participated.

The district focused on the "trust in basic local governments" category in this survey. The score was 6.57 points, which is 1.02 points higher than the Seoul average of 5.55 points. The difference with the lowest-ranking district was as much as 2.36 points.

The district analyzed that the rapid achievement of long-standing projects played a decisive role in these results.

Since the start of the 8th popularly elected administration, the district has achieved the easing of the height restriction zone in Bukhansan, the resumption of construction on the Changdong privately funded station, the undergrounding of the GTX-C metropolitan express railway line, passing the central investment review for the Ui-Banghak light rail, and the groundbreaking of the Seoul Arena.

As a result of field-oriented, communicative administration, the district ranked first in four categories related to "community spirit," such as intimacy with neighbors, communication, and participation in local events.

In two categories assessing satisfaction with social welfare services, the district ranked first and second. The welfare category for vulnerable groups, such as low-income households, scored an overwhelming 7.65 points, while the welfare category for pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare was only 0.02 points behind the top score of 7.24 points.

In the safety environment sector, the district ranked first in four out of nine categories: natural disasters, buildings and facilities, traffic accidents, and crime risk. This is a remarkable improvement compared to the 2022 survey, when the district was in the lower ranks.

Significant expansion of budgets for safety and environment projects, as well as bold and proactive investments such as the introduction of the "Artificial Intelligence (AI) Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Rapid Search System," contributed to these results.

Oh Unseok, Mayor of Dobong District, said, "I sincerely thank all residents for their positive evaluation of the 8th popularly elected district administration," and added, "We will continue to move forward tirelessly with the goal of 'Changing Together, Happy Dobong.' I ask for your continued support and encouragement in the second half of the administration."
