Seocho-gu Extends Bus No. 4435 Route by 5km... Improved Access to Daechi-dong Academy District and More

Seocho-gu in Seoul (District Mayor Jeon Seongsoo) will change the route of city bus No. 4435 starting from the first bus on May 9, 2025, significantly improving access to major hubs in Gangnam, including the academy district in Daechi-dong.

Bus No. 4435 currently departs from Gaepo-dong in Gangnam-gu, passes through Yangjae-dong, and runs along the Umyeonsan Tunnel and Banpo-daero to Seocho Station and Gyodae Station. With this route adjustment, the line will be extended by approximately 5 kilometers to include stops at Maebong Tunnel Intersection, Gangnam Severance Hospital, Hanti Station, and Dogok Station.

Ultimately, the route will connect to six subway stations: Seocho Station (Line 2), Gyodae Station (Lines 2 and 3), Yangjae Station (Line 3 and Shinbundang Line), Maebong Station (Line 3), as well as Hanti Station (Suin-Bundang Line) and Dogok Station (Line 3 and Suin-Bundang Line), further enhancing transfer convenience.

This route adjustment is particularly significant as it establishes a direct bus to the Daechi-dong academy district, which residents of Umyeon-dong have been waiting for over several years, and improves access to medical facilities. Previously, children had to transfer multiple times to commute to their academies, but the change to the No. 4435 bus route is expected to resolve this inconvenience. At the same time, access to large medical facilities such as Gangnam Severance Hospital will also be improved.

To implement this route change, the district office has continuously conveyed residents' requests to the Seoul Metropolitan Government. After discussions, the final route adjustment to include the Daechi-dong academy district was confirmed. To ensure smooth operation and minimize inconvenience for residents, two additional buses will be deployed.

District Mayor Jeon Seongsoo stated, "The change to the No. 4435 bus route addresses a long-standing wish of Umyeon-dong residents and aims to improve access to major areas in Gangnam," adding, "We will continue to pursue resident-centered transportation policies to create a more convenient public transit environment."
