Goyang City and the 60th Infantry Division
Strengthening Cooperation for Local Security and Citizen Safety
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Donghwan Lee) announced on April 30 that it held a meeting with the Republic of Korea Army 60th Infantry Division (Division Commander Brigadier General Myungcheol Lee), which is stationed in Goyang, at the Open Mayor's Office in City Hall on April 28.

This meeting was organized to strengthen the close cooperation system between the local government and the military, and to seek practical measures for mutual development.
At the meeting, key officials including Mayor Donghwan Lee and Division Commander Myungcheol Lee attended and engaged in in-depth discussions on local issues such as establishing an integrated defense system and resolving inconveniences faced by residents living near military facilities.
In particular, a consensus was reached on the joint roles of the local government and the military in enhancing citizen safety and regional security, and practical cooperation measures were explored.
Mayor Donghwan Lee stated, "The Army 60th Infantry Division is a strong security partner that protects the safety of Goyang citizens," and added, "Going forward, Goyang Special City and the 60th Division will continue to cooperate to create a mutually beneficial model that both citizens and soldiers can experience firsthand."
Division Commander Myungcheol Lee said, "I am grateful for the continued interest and support from Goyang Special City," and added, "We will continue to work to grow together with the local community based on cooperation with the local government."
Goyang Special City plans to use this meeting as an opportunity to further activate cooperative channels for organic communication between the military and the local government, and to achieve tangible results through various joint projects.
