Identity of Mia-dong Stabbing Suspect Revealed: Kim Sungjin, 32

The police have released the identity of a man in his 30s who committed a stabbing rampage near a supermarket in Mia-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.


On April 29, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency disclosed the face, name, and age of Kim Sungjin, who is charged with murder, on its website. The police stated, "We have decided to disclose his identity because the brutality of the crime and the seriousness of the damage have been recognized, there is sufficient evidence of the crime, and disclosure is necessary for public interest, including crime prevention."

Kim's personal information will be displayed on the website for 30 days starting from this day.


Meanwhile, on April 22, Kim was arrested after unwrapping and wielding a knife displayed at a supermarket near Mia Station. As a result of this incident, a woman in her 60s died, and another victim, a woman in her 40s, was injured.
