Delivering Messages of Celebration and Gratitude for Buddha's Birthday, Year 2569
Gwangjin District (District Mayor Kim Kyungho) visited four major temples in the area ahead of Buddha's Birthday to engage in dialogue with the local community.
The visits began with Yeonghwasa Temple on the 18th, followed by Neunginjeongsa Temple on the 25th, and Yongamsa Temple and Giwonjeongsa Temple on the 28th. During these visits, the district mayor celebrated Buddha's birth and expressed gratitude for the temples' ongoing contributions to the community.
At these meetings, District Mayor Kim Kyungho said, "I am grateful to the monks who provide comfort and strength to the lives of believers with compassion and love."
In response, the head monk said, "I thank the district mayor for his efforts to improve the lives of residents, and I hope that Gwangjin District will continue to be a warm community where people respect and care for one another."
The district mayor also greeted local residents and temple members, celebrating Buddha's Birthday together and taking time to listen to their valuable opinions.
Yeonghwasa Temple (Head Monk: Monk Pyeongjung), located in Guui 2-dong, practices sharing by providing donations and rice to low-income households throughout the year.
Giwonjeongsa Temple (Head Monk: Monk Jagwang), located in Junggok 4-dong, supports senior citizens' events, hosts temple music concerts, and operates a Buddhist school, spreading warmth in the local community.
Yongamsa Temple (Head Monk: Monk Gwano), also located in Junggok 4-dong, provides aid to neighbors every year after the Sansinje ritual.
In addition, Neunginjeongsa Temple (Head Monk: Monk Beobgyeong), located in Jayang 1-dong, holds an annual year-end music concert for low-income residents, providing rice and scholarships, and delivers donations to patients with intractable diseases as part of its community support activities.
District Mayor Kim Kyungho said, "I wish everyone a happy Buddha's Birthday and hope that the lives of all Gwangjin District residents will be filled with love and compassion."
