The Central Plaza within the Oryong District of Namak New Town, which is being developed by Jeonnam Development Corporation, will be fully opened on the 1st of next month.
Jeonnam Development Corporation announced on the 29th that, although the plaza was originally scheduled to open at the end of next year, it has decided to open it earlier in order to realize residents' convenience.
The Central Plaza serves as the core space of the Oryong District, connecting a park forest trail and a scenic waterway with a total area equivalent to three soccer fields. As a result, residents will be able to enjoy more pleasant and continuous walking paths, and they will also have access to safe routes to and from school without having to cross roads.
The plaza is expected to be used not only as a simple passageway, but also as a multipurpose community space where local residents can enjoy various activities. It will provide space for small gatherings, outdoor fitness activities, and a variety of experiences, serving as a venue for residents to interact, communicate, and enjoy leisure activities.
Jang Chungmo, President of Jeonnam Development Corporation, stated, "Oryong District is the key residential area that marks the completion of the long journey of the Namak New Town project. In addition to expanding living infrastructure and enhancing residents' convenience, we plan to sequentially create various spaces such as the Sunset Plaza following the Central Plaza. Through the opening of the Central Plaza, we expect not only to secure safe school routes but also to have a positive impact on improving living conditions for residents."
Meanwhile, Oryong District plans to create a creative and distinctive landmark space in the future by designating a special planning zone near the Central Plaza, in addition to being a residential and education-specialized city. Furthermore, the waterfront park, which marks the final stage of the overall project, will be completed with specialized infrastructure such as the Sunset Plaza and is scheduled to be opened to residents by the end of 2026.
