HYBE announced on the 29th that its revenue for the first quarter of this year reached 500.6 billion KRW, marking a 39% increase compared to the same period last year. This is the company’s highest quarterly performance to date.
Operating profit also showed a simultaneous upward trend. For the first quarter of this year, operating profit was recorded at 21.6 billion KRW, representing an increase of about 50% compared to the same period last year.
The record-breaking revenue was driven by world tours. Multiple artists, including BTS member J-Hope, Seventeen, and Tomorrow X Together (TXT), held world tours or solo tours, resulting in performance revenue of 155.2 billion KRW. This figure is more than three times higher than during the same period last year. As a result, direct participation revenue, which includes album sales, performances, and advertising, totaled 322.5 billion KRW, accounting for approximately 64% of total revenue.
Indirect participation revenue, such as MD, licensing, content, and fan clubs, amounted to 178.1 billion KRW, or about 36% of total revenue. In particular, as sales of performance-related merchandise increased, MD and licensing revenue rose by about 75%, from 60.7 billion KRW in the first quarter of last year to 106.4 billion KRW in the first quarter of this year.
For the second quarter of this year, BTS member Jin, Seventeen, Enhypen, Le Sserafim, Boynextdoor, and Cat’s Eye are planning to release albums or hold performances. On June 11, the seven-member boy group 'Aoen' is scheduled to officially debut in Japan. In the third quarter of this year, a new boy group that creates not only music but also choreography and videos will be introduced.
