CJ ENM announced on April 29 that Mikyung Lee, Vice Chairman of CJ Group, has been selected as a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, awarded by the Ellis Island Honors Society in the United States.


Established in 1986, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor is an award that recognizes leaders from diverse backgrounds for their contributions to American society. It is officially recognized by the U.S. Congress, with recipients recorded in the Congressional Record. Past recipients include eight former U.S. presidents, such as Ronald Reagan and Joe Biden, as well as Henry Kissinger and Frank Sinatra.


This year, the list of honorees includes Vice Chairman Lee, Academy Award-winning actor Adrien Brody, Nobel laureate James Allison, and Pfizer Chairman Albert Bourla, among others.


The Ellis Island Honors Society stated, "Vice Chairman Lee has reshaped the landscape of the global entertainment industry, created universal human narratives, and played a significant role in bringing the voices of emerging creators to the global stage."


Over the past 30 years, Vice Chairman Lee has led the globalization of Korea's cultural industry, introducing a wide range of content?including films, dramas, and music?to overseas markets. Through these efforts, she has received several awards, including the 2022 International Emmy Directorate Award, the Academy Museum Pillar Award, the 2023 Geumgwan Order of Cultural Merit, and the 2024 Global Citizen Award.


The awards ceremony will be held in New York, United States, on May 10 (local time).
