Professor Kiwoong Park from the Department of Information Security at Sejong University is receiving the Minister of Science and ICT Award. NetSec-KR is the largest information security academic conference in Korea, hosted by the Korea Institute of Information Security and Cryptology. The event was held on April 17 at the Grand Ballroom of COEX Seoul in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
Since 1995, the conference has contributed to strengthening the nation’s information security capabilities by advancing the domestic information security industry and fostering professional talent in information security.
Professor Park currently leads the Sejong University System Security Laboratory (SysCore Lab), taking the initiative in research and development of information security technologies together with his students.
In particular, his research team recently achieved outstanding results in various fields such as ransomware detection and analysis, prevention of infection spread, and damage recovery by conducting research on building an information-sharing platform to respond to ransomware attacks.
Professor Park stated, "I consider this award not only as recognition of our research achievements so far, but also as encouragement to continue our research with even greater responsibility for the nation and society. This accomplishment was made possible thanks to the dedication of the SysCore Lab students, and I will continue to pursue meaningful research with humility in the future."
