On April 29, Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province announced that the "Jeonju Ipapnamu Market," a side event of the "2025 Jeonju Ipapnamu Festival," will be held for four days from May 3 to May 6 at the Ipapnamu Railway in Palbok-dong and the Palbok Art Factory area.

This year's Jeonju Ipapnamu Festival consists of two main parts: the Ipapnamu Railway opening event, which was held over two days on April 26 and 27, and the Ipapnamu Market, which will run from May 3 to May 6.

The Jeonju Ipapnamu Market is designed to provide more enjoyable experiences for Jeonju citizens and tourists visiting the Ipapnamu Railway, and to revitalize the local economy, which has been sluggish due to weak domestic demand. Small business owners and village communities from the Jeonju area, selected through an open call, are expected to participate in the event.

The selected small business owners and village communities will operate a total of 45 booths at the market, including 14 booths selling Jeonju-themed goods, 12 dessert booths, 10 community experience booths, and 9 railway restaurants.

Through this event, Jeonju citizens and tourists who visit the festival, where white Ipapnamu flowers bloom in spring, will be able to enjoy a variety of Jeonju products, unique desserts, and local foods. The event is also expected to promote and sell outstanding products from local small businesses, injecting new energy into the regional economy.

To coincide with Children's Day week, the city plans to offer a range of performances for children, including bubble, balloon, and cotton candy shows, as well as a nighttime Ipapnamu EDM party. By providing diverse performance content, the city aims to create unforgettable memories for visitors and encourage longer stays through late-night performances, thereby boosting the local tourism economy.

Additionally, to create a space for cultural exchange between citizens and tourists, the city has planned traditional game experience booths and cultural performances featuring participation from local artists and citizens.

At the Palbok Art Factory area, related events such as the "Henri Matisse & Raoul Dufy" exhibition at Palbok Art Factory and the "100 Films 100 Posters" exhibition at the Jeonju International Film Festival will be held, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.

The city also announced its intention to operate the Ipapnamu Market as a festival free from price gouging by offering high-value food at reasonable prices, aiming to increase visitor satisfaction during the golden holiday period in Jeonju.

Lim Sookhee, Director of the Economic and Industrial Bureau of Jeonju City, stated, "We expect that the 'Jeonju Ipapnamu Market,' led by local merchants and communities, will help promote responsible consumerism and revitalize the local economy. We will do our best to prepare for the successful operation of the market during the Jeonju Ipapnamu Festival so that the region can regain its vitality."

Meanwhile, this year's Jeonju Ipapnamu Market will be operated as a zero-waste and eco-friendly festival by using reusable containers at all booths in collaboration with the Council for Sustainable Development.
