Information Session on May 8... 970 Million KRW Investment
Six Projects Including Regional Innovation Cluster Development
Support for Technology-Based Demonstrations Such as Prototypes and Certifications
On April 29, the Gwangju City Government announced that, in collaboration with Gwangju Technopark and the Gwangju Regional Industry Promotion Agency, it is recruiting local companies to participate in the 'Energy Industry Support Program' until May 23.
The Energy Industry Support Program covers six projects: ▲ fostering regional innovation clusters ▲ commercialization of energy-specialized companies ▲ open innovation at hub institutions ▲ establishment of a test and evaluation center for electric vehicle battery module packs ▲ nurturing talent for the regional energy cluster ▲ support for moving into the Energy Industry Convergence Complex Integrated Support Center.
The city plans to invest a total project budget of 970 million KRW to focus on supporting technology-based demonstrations such as prototype production, intellectual property rights, certification, and marketing for the development of new technologies by energy companies. Through this, the city aims to actively support companies in strengthening their market competitiveness.
By integrating the six sub-projects into a single call for applications, rather than holding separate calls for each project, the city has eliminated duplicate support for participating companies and enabled a wider range of companies to benefit from the program.
To help interested companies better understand the program, an information session hosted by Gwangju Technopark will be held at the Energy Industry Convergence Complex Integrated Support Center on May 8. Companies can apply for the program through the business support portal.
Choi Taejo, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Office, stated, "We will continue to invest in and support high value-added energy industries, such as urban distributed energy linked with artificial intelligence (AI) technology and the battery module and pack system sector."
Meanwhile, the city recently proposed presidential campaign pledges to each political party, including the creation of a distributed energy demonstration complex and a specialized battery module system complex, as part of efforts to establish a Net-Zero distributed energy hub. In addition, on April 15, the city applied to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for designation as a 'Distributed Energy Specialized Area,' and is focusing on revitalizing energy resources using advanced technologies such as AI to overcome the region's low power self-sufficiency rate.
