The bridge girders installed this time are large structures spanning a total of 200 meters. The installation was carried out using the latest large-scale equipment and new construction technologies. All work was conducted according to plan under a thorough safety management system, without any setbacks.

Section 2 of the Seongnam-Gwangju road widening and paving project extends 1.14 kilometers from the Gwangju City Agricultural Technology Center to the Tanbeol-dong area. It features a width of 20 meters and four lanes in both directions. The total project cost for this section is approximately 51.9 billion won.

With the completion of the bridge girder installation, the overall progress rate of Section 2 has reached about 58%. The city plans to accelerate construction, aiming to complete the upper bridge work in the second half of this year and open Section 2 to traffic in January 2026.

The entire Seongnam-Gwangju road widening and paving project spans 6.32 kilometers in length and 19 to 20 meters in width, with a total project cost of 216 billion won. The project is being carried out in three sections.

Section 1 (2.32 kilometers, from Sangdaewon-dong in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam City to Batmal Intersection in Mokhyeon-dong) was opened in 2021. Section 2 (1.14 kilometers, from Gwangju City Agricultural Technology Center to Tanbeol-dong) is currently under construction. Section 3 (2.86 kilometers, from Batmal Intersection to Gwangju City Agricultural Technology Center) is currently undergoing supplementary design work.

This project is expected to serve as a key infrastructure facility that will not only expand and pave the road but also drastically improve the transportation network in the southeastern part of the Seoul metropolitan area and drive sustainable growth in the region.

Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure the prompt opening of the Seongnam-Gwangju road, a long-cherished wish of Gwangju citizens," adding, "We plan to actively and swiftly promote various transportation infrastructure projects befitting a self-sufficient city with a population of 500,000."
