Top in Six Categories Including Number of Loans and Users
Suji Library Ranks First Among Public Libraries in the Province
Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province has ranked first in the number of book loans among public libraries in the province for seven consecutive years.
On April 29, Yongin City announced that, according to last year's operational performance survey of 323 public libraries in Gyeonggi Province?including 312 run by local governments and 11 by education offices?it recorded a total of 6,316,163 book loans, ranking first among the 31 cities and counties in the province.

In addition to the number of loans, the city also ranked first in the province in five other indicators: ▲number of visitors (7,025,033), ▲number of users (6,107,951), ▲number of new books acquired annually (187,891), ▲number of electronic resources (454,049 types), and ▲expenditure on resource acquisition (2,722,894,000 KRW).
In particular, Suji Library recorded 938,800 book loans last year, ranking first among all 323 public libraries. Sanghyeon Library ranked seventh with 523,683 loans, Jukjeon Library ranked fifteenth with 443,525 loans, and Giheung Library ranked sixteenth with 441,127 loans.
Additionally, among the city's 20 libraries, 12 libraries?including Dongbaek Library (20th), Seongbok Library (21st), Yongin Central Library (26th), Seonong Library (27th), Guseong Library (31st), Heungdeok Library (34th), Cheongdeok Library (38th), and Bora Library (42nd)?were ranked within the top 50.
Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "This achievement is the result of citizens' voluntary participation in reading, as well as the city's continued investment and policy efforts," adding, "We will continue to develop Yongin into a city where knowledge and culture thrive around libraries and where reading becomes a part of daily life."
