Hands-on Activities to Enhance Scientific Communication with Children

The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on April 29 that it will be recruiting participants for the second session of the "Moms Doing Science" program until May 26.

"Moms Doing Science" is an adult program designed for parents of kindergarten and elementary school students. The program aims to enhance scientific knowledge and literacy, and to establish a foundation for educational communication with their children. This year, the program is being held every other month.

The second session, themed "Smart Moms Exploring Science in Everyday Life," will run for two weeks from May 20 to May 29, taking place every Tuesday and Thursday for a total of four days. The program focuses on learning scientific theories found in daily life, and includes activities such as: a smart robot that finds its own way, a rain-detecting sensor house, an emotional mood lamp that responds to sound, and a solar-powered dueling device.

Senior researcher Lee Junghwa said, "Through this program, I hope participants will be able to learn about various scientific principles found in everyday life through experiments and hands-on activities, and use this experience as a foundation for scientific communication with their children."

Applications can be submitted online on a first-come, first-served basis through the museum's website.
