Daejeon City Makes All-Out Efforts for Glocal University Selection... Final Review of Innovation Proposals Glocal University TF Meeting / Daejeon City

Daejeon City announced that it is accelerating its final preparations for the selection of Glocal University by conducting a final review of its innovation proposal.

For this round of Glocal University, a total of eight universities are expected to apply across three categories: one for integration, one for alliance, and four for standalone applications. In the integration category, Chungnam National University and Kongju National University will apply together. In the alliance category, Mokwon University, Paichai University, and Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology will form an alliance to apply. For the standalone category, Daejeon University, Woosong University, Hannam University, and Hanbat National University plan to submit individual applications.

Each university must submit its preliminary application by May 2. The Ministry of Education is expected to announce the preliminary designated universities in May. Afterward, the main application will be submitted in August, and by September, up to 10 universities will be finally selected to complete the Glocal University 30 project.

Since February, the city has formed dedicated TF teams for each university to gather their opinions and has held TF meetings to provide ongoing, tailored support.

The final TF meetings for each university’s review were conducted either in person or in writing, depending on the needs of each university. For universities that requested in-person meetings, in-depth final reviews were conducted from April 28 to April 29.

During the final review meetings, experts from relevant departments and innovation agencies, focusing on each university’s final innovation proposal, examined the specialization areas of each university, the alignment with Daejeon City’s development strategies, and the suitability for the preliminary designation evaluation criteria in order to enhance the completeness of the applications.

Ko Hyundeok, Director of Education Policy Strategy at Daejeon City, stated, "We hope that the thorough preparations made by each university will lead to positive results," adding, "Even after the preliminary results are announced, the city will make every effort to ensure that the universities can secure final designation."
